Purple Flag Skellefteå

Purple Flag is a proven collaboration model that helps cities and towns create safe, secure, and attractive environments. The foundation of the model is cooperation between private, public, and non-profit stakeholders within a defined area. Together, they analyse the current situation, develop a shared vision and action plan, and implement measures that strengthen safety and enhance the place.

The work with the Purple Flag model in Skellefteå was initiated by the Municipality of Skellefteå and Visit Skellefteå, with process support from Swedish City Centres (Svenska Stadskärnor).

The Purple Flag process is intended to deepen the collaboration established through the BID work and to focus on the city’s evening economy. The model provides a structure for bringing together more stakeholders – from municipal departments to restaurants, retail, and associations – to create safer, more welcoming environments and evening experiences.

The process is expected to result in both short-term and long-term initiatives that develop the content and overall experience of the designated area.
